William Knight Thompson, Jr.'s Obituary
William K. Thompson, Jr. "Tommy Thompson" passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 after a brief illness.
Born in Scotland, North Carolina Tommy moved with his parents to Manatee County at a young age. His father, William K. Thompson, Sr. was pastor of the Palmetto Presbyterian Church which Tommy attended his entire life. Living in Palmetto, Tommy attended Palmetto Elementary School and was a 1969 graduate of Palmetto High School. After receiving degrees from Stetson University Tommy returned to Manatee County where he taught history at Sugg Middle School for 36 years. Recently retired, Tommy was able to spend more time with his vast circle of friends attending baseball games, camping, traveling the world and enjoying each day.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
Services for Tommy will be held Thursday morning at Palmetto Presbyterian Church. Visitation wll be held from 11 am to 12 pm followed by a graveside service at Skyway Memorial Gardens, 5200 US Hwy 19N Palmetto, FL 34221. After the service all of Tommy's friends are invited to continue in that circle of friendship as we celebrate his life at the VFW hall 810 6th St. W. Palmetto.
