Alfred M Loose's Obituary
Alfred M. Loose, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Palmetto on March 22, 2026.
Born in Linden, Michigan, Al was a gifted athlete who earned a baseball scholarship as a pitcher at Western Michigan University. It was there that he met his future wife, Eleanor Crane. After serving in the United States Army in Germany, where he also played on the Army baseball team, he returned home and married Eleanor in 1959.
Al dedicated his career to education as a middle school physical education teacher in Swartz Creek, Michigan. He also coached varsity baseball and golf for the Dragons, leading his teams to multiple district and tournament championships. In recognition of his athletic achievements, he was inducted into the Linden Sports Hall of Fame in 1989.
An avid golfer, he recorded eight hole in ones. He also enjoyed playing cards and sharing stories with family and friends. Known for his love of a good laugh, he often said he would “rather be lucky than good,” though those who knew him understood he was both.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, and his siblings.
He is survived by his children, Zoe (Julius) Maisano, Joe Loose, Jay Loose, Jon Loose, and daughter-in-law Sheila Loose; his grandchildren, Lauren (Curtis) Ward, Sarah Loose, Matteo Maisano, Quinton Loose, Truman Loose, and Atticus Loose; his great-granddaughter, Eleanor Ward; and his sister, Lynn Misleh.
A private family memorial will be held.
