Barbara Jane Hughes was a "modern woman" before the phrase existed. She was the primary breadwinner of her family, which included six children. You can always tell what kind of parent a person is by the behavior of their children. She raised six wonderful, kind, generous and hard-working kids all while working full time at the phone company. We should be in awe of her. Thank you Barbara Jane for plotting the course for all of us. You will be missed.
Cathy and I were lucky enough to meet Barbara a few years back. She left a wonderful legacy of children and will be missed by many.
What can I say about my great Aunt Barb. I didnt get to spend alot of time with her, but the time I did spend was full of laughter (lots and lots with happy tears) and mostly love. We would stay with her and Uncle Harry when I was in high school and went on spring break. I remember her introducing me to Manatees and I immediately fell in love with rhose gentle giants. She would send me grapefruits every year with my parents when I didnt go. She was such a light in a dark world and will be so truly missed. We love you Aunt Barb. Give Uncle Harry, grandma and grandpa a big hug from us all here in Michigan.
I had several favorite aunts and Aunt Barb was most definitely my favorite of all times . She would come and visit us in Michigan every so often . Her and uncle harry always made me feel very important to them . I always promised to come see them but never got a chance to get to Florida. I know that someday I will see them again someday. Condolences to all of my cousins and their families in Florida. I don’t see any of you very often but I do Love all of you . I remember you all coming to our house in sumner Michigan and you guys all holding me down for a picture.
I remember fondly the day mom found out we had all the neighborhood kids at our house making prank calls. Being an operator at the time, she had our line checked out, and heard what was taking place. There was hell to pay when mom came home!!! Can you say whooping? Not just her kids either. Miss you mom!
