If I had to describe my mom's life in a few words: Passionate, Opinionated, Loving, Resilient, and Curious.
Passionate:
Mom was incredibly passionate about her career. A stellar doctor! She ranked number one in the State of Florida on her Medical Exams. She fought hard to become a Medical Doctor at a time when women rarely held that title. She had me during her last year of Medical School.
Opinionated:
Mom was opinionated. She had zero filters! Lol. She'd tell you exactly what you wanted to hear, followed by everything you didn't. She had an opinion about every girlfriend I ever dated and freely shared her thoughts. She used to say, "Don't get a dumb girl pregnant because you'll have dumb kids." lol
Loving:
Mom was loving. She made sure to call you at 5:00 AM on your birthday and would buy you a gift regardless of the cost. She never missed an opportunity to tell you how much you were loved. She would go out of her way to help strangers and then make them her best friends.
Resilient:
Mom was resilient. She overcame numerous setbacks in her life. She fell in 2008 and was flown by Bay Flight Helicopter to Tampa General. She downplayed the incident, although she was shocked by the $120K medical bill. She joked that with that amount of money, she could have flown the entire family to Hawaii for a week!
Curious:
Mom was curious. She always inquired about everyone's well-being. She asked a lot of questions, even the hard ones that many of us preferred to avoid. "How's your sex life?" and "When are you having another child?" were among her favorites.
I will miss everything about my Mom, she did so much and had so much love for me and my family. I love you Mom.
