Douglas R. DePew's Obituary
Douglas R. DePew, age 57, known as ‘Doug’ to many, passed away January 3, 2026, at the Lakewood Ranch Hospice House in Bradenton, Florida after a fierce battle with cancer. Doug was born in New York, New York but moved to Florida with his family in 1980. He was preceded in death by his father Robert DePew.
Doug always found humor even in his final battle with cancer. But those that knew him, knew he had four loves…music, cars, animals, and family. He enjoyed music by playing the drums as well as many other percussion instruments and leaves a legacy of developing the drum scores for several published songs. Being an avid car buff, he spent many hours building, racing, and showing cars over the years. He was an instrumental member of the https://F-body.org site and provided the IT support as needed. Doug also had a love for animals, rescuing many over the years and being a passionate supporter of Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue. And finally, he was a family man. Family was a priority and was central to everything he did.
Doug leaves his lasting memories with his loving wife Christina DePew; his mother Janet DePew; son Derek DePew; and daughter AmeliaBelle Dasovich. A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held 1:00 PM, February 21, 2026, at Harvest United Methodist Church (of which Doug was a member),14305 Covenant Way, Lakewood Ranch, Florida 34202. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in his honor to Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
