Jane Anne Melton's Obituary
Jane Anne Melton entered eternal life on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, in Columbia, SC. She was 70 years old. Her spirit is carried on by her two children, her two grandchildren, and an extended family of relations and friends from all over the country.
Jane was born in LaPorte, Indiana, but also lived in Arkansas, Florida, and South and North Carolina. She worked most of her adult life in the Marine Industry, and lived many places for her work. Everywhere she lived got renovated and landscaped, as she was so active and wanted to make things beautiful.
Jane lived life on her own terms. She loved her family, her friends, her animals, her yard, and the beach. She loved taking care of Jackson and going to Josh’s fights, sending out Cheryl’s pictures of her travels to everyone, and loading and unloading U-Hauls. She frequently volunteered her time to organizations such as the Red Cross, USO, and animal shelters. She was always ready to help her children, grandchildren, and friends, and was continuously thinking of ways to make them happy. She had a beautiful smile, warm hug and great laugh.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Anne Hess, and son-in-law Jeff Grove. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Phoenix and Mark Melton, daughter-in-law Tamara Melton , her much loved grandchildren Josh Samman and Jackson Melton, two sisters Laurie Favor and Susan Trimpe.
A Memorial Service will be held for Jane at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Skyway Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive guests at her home in Bradenton thereafter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her youngest grandson’s college fund: Jackson Melton, 3715 31st Street East, Bradenton, FL 34208.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Skyway Memorial Funeral Home, Palmetto, FL. Online condolences can be made at www.skywaymemorial.com
