Mercedes Campbell's Obituary
Mercedes Campbell, 94, passed away April 28, 2015. She was born January 3, 1921 in Placida, Florida to the late Addington and Alene (Lowe) Underwood. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Campbell; daughter, Charlotte; son, Samuel; brothers, Ansel, Everette, Samuel and Oswald; sisters, Vedera, Grace and Edith.
Mercedes moved to Manatee County in 1940 from Placida. She was a member of the Cortez Church of God and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. Spending time with her family was very important.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ann Skinner of Arcadia; Fay Grubb and her husband Bob of Fruitland Park; John Campbell and his wife Flo of Cortez and J. Wayde Campbell and his wife Mary of Bradenton; brother, Ashton Underwood of Ellenton; sisters, Helen Cole and Edna Dixon both of Placida; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 10 to 11 AM at the Skyway Community Church, 512 61st Street E., Palmetto, Florida 34221. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM followed by interment in Skyway Memorial Gardens, 5200 US Highway 19 N., Palmetto.
