I remember as a little girl visiting Auntie Rita and Uncle Tom on our monthly family gatherings. We were all very close growing up. One time, I was sitting in her kitchen watching her cook meatballs and sauce in a crock pot, sitting under the round table with the colored glass chandelier. She kept smiling at me, her beautiful sunshine smile. Then she grabbed my hand and took me into her bedroom to show me her jewelry box which had a wheel for necklaces. She opened it up, took one out and put it on me. Keep it she said. A girl always needs a little bit of sparkle. And then, on a dime she gives me a giggle and said, who feels like a swim? Come on Lin, lets go!
Auntie Rita is my god mother. My parents always told me if something ever happen to them, Auntie Rita would take good care of us. And she always did...for all of us.
She was the first person to curl my hair and show me how to use a curling iron.
One time she made me a a tee shirt with iron on stickers that I wore until they all fell off.
I will miss you so much Auntie. Your smile and your beautiful eyes will stay with me always. Love you so much. Just don't have the words for how much you will be missed.
