It is with much sorrow that we feel for the family of Pastor Wendell at this time, God did not tarry long in re-uniting him with Ms. Nancy. Truly a gentleman of great love for the Lord for so many years. Through the ministry of "Loving Hands", he has demonstrated unconditional love to so many young men that have faced great challenges in their lives. We look forward to the celebration of life service. May Christ give each of you much peace in the days ahead as you go through the greiving process. To all the men of Loving Hands, please continue in the faith of Jesus Christ, for He will set you free!! Luther & Margie Goodwin, FBC, Dade City, Fl.
I remember nominating Wendell for "Pastor of the Year" in 1996 in Manatee County, and he did receive the award when he was Pastor of Loving Hands Church on 13th St. He always took care of his flock as well as bringing myself closer to Our Lord by his example of living for Him. He had "Celebrate Saturdays", where he & the parish people would feed the homeless of the community a BBQ along with running the Loving Hands ministry for troubled youth. Everyday, he did something for the Lord including marrying me to my wife Jonalynn. So now, Wendell enjoy your reward of being with our Lord, which you so richly deserve!
Sincerely, Louis Varga
We met Wendell and his men at a service at Christian Retreat back in the early days (late 1980s) and did a little secretarial work for him when his regular helper was unavailable. We attended LH Banquets over the years and supported when we could. Wendell never forgot our names even though he met thousands of people. Amazing! He always had a smile and an upbeat attitude despite many challenges. You couldn't help but love him.
Wendell was my father in the Lord, a good friend, and a wonderful man of God. I own my life to Wendell and his family for having the patience to put up with me and to help me get to know my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This world will not be a better place because he is gone, it was a better place when he was here, I love you pops I'll miss you, but I will see you again soon. I hope not too soon though!! 😍
