Dr. Wendell C. Wilson's Obituary
Dr. Wendell C. Wilson, 75 , entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. He was born on July 25th, 1940 in, Lake City, Tennessee to parents; Clarence & Magdalene Wilson. Wendell was married to the late Nancy Wilson on August 18, 1962. Dr. Wendell Wilson served as Pastor in several states including, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Florida. Wendell along with his faithful wife, Nancy, founded Loving Hands Ministries in 1982 in their own home as a result of a God-inspired vision to minister the love of God to the lost and troubled youth of this generation. Thirty four years later, thousands of men's lives have been impacted and saved from the grips of addiction through Loving Hands. In 1993, he extended his vision to the nation of India where Loving Hands now oversees more than 150 churches, an orphanage with 45 children, a Christian school, a Bible college and Seminary.
"Life is relationships." Wendell was a faithful Pastor, loving husband, father to the fatherless, Papa, great papa, brother and friend. Wendell was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy Wilson. Survived by children, Steve Wilson, Kimberly Wilson Dodson (Dan), Vicki Wilson DeWitt, Christopher Wilson (Jennifer), Joseph VanBlarcom (Pam), Rev. Joseph Hamblen, 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 5 in-laws and a host of Loving Hands sons in the faith. He is preceded in death by one sister.
Visitation will be held from 6:30pm-8:00pm on Friday, June 3rd at Church of Hope, 1560 Wendell Kent Rd, Sarasota, FL 34240. The Memorial Service will begin at 10:30am on Saturday, June 4th at Church of Hope 1560 Wendell Kent Rd, Sarasota, FL 34240 and will conclude with a committal service at Skyway Memorial Gardens, 5200 US Hwy 19 N., Palmetto, Fl.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of this great man of faith to Loving Hands Ministries, P.O. Box 1157, Bradenton, FL 34206.
